Did Senator Mitch McConnell have a stroke?

Senator Mitch McConnell froze midsentence on July 26, 2023 during a news conference. What happened? How is he doing now?

Dr. Lee Schwamm, neurologist and stroke expert at Yale, and Dr. Jeffrey Saver, neurologist at U.C.L.A. School of Medicine, said that the two most likely reasons were a transient ischemic attack (TIA) — a sort of mini stroke — or a partial seizure, perhaps resulting from a fall and a head injury.

Transient ischemic attacks occur when blood flow to part of the brain is temporarily blocked. They usually last for five to 10 minutes.

If I were his doctor or was in that audience, I would have recommended he go to the emergency room immediately,” Dr. Schwamm said to the NY Times.
